stands for In Christ’s Way, our congregation's ministry to the needy which provides assistance to persons in need within the church and community. Some of these funds support organizations which address the Biblical goal of "helping the least of these, our sisters and brothers."

Below are some of the agencies and ministries with whom we partner in an effort to build of Kingdom of God in our midst... for we take seriously the prayer Jesus taught us, believing that we can build God's kingdom and bring about God's will ..."on earth as it is in heaven."

UMOM

stands for United Methodist Outreach Ministries, an urban ministry that includes a shelter, thrift shop, and much, much more. First Church volunteers have been feeding shelter residents every Monday night for over a decade with a meal prepared in our kitchen and transported to the shelter! ...more...

WCC

is Wesley Community Center, a United Methodist sponsored outreach to the south Phoenix community of Nuestra Barrio. This center provides job training, language help, legal assistance, a medical clinic, youth activities, a thrift shop and more to one of the poorest neighborhoods in Arizona. ...more...

VICaP

is the Volunteer Interfaith Caregiver’s Program. First Church joins 109 additional congregations who partner together to provide funding and volunteers for ministry to homebound elderly and disabled adults in our community. ...more...

AEC

is the Arizona Ecumenical Council, a partnership of dozens of Christian denominations seeking to improve the quality of life in Arizona through faith-based action. We are an AEC partner and have supported the AEC sponsored Hunger Walk in recent years. ...more...

AZIC

is Arizona Interfaith Counseling, a non-profit agency that offers faith-based pastoral care throughout the state. One of it’s offices is right here on the campus of First Church. We support AZIC’s low fee fund and provide rent-free office space. ...more...

UMCOR

One of our major denominational missions is the annual support of world-wide emergency disaster relief through the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Our support of UMCOR through an annual offering each March called One Great Hour of Sharing is a celebration of the connectional system in Methodism that allows 100% of the gift to go to direct assistance in times of great need, since our regular apportionments support the infrastructure of delivering relief.
